چکیده

The effect of constant background vorticity on the pressure beneath steady long gravity waves at the surface of a fluid is investigated. Using an asymptotic expansion for the streamfunction, we derive a model equation and a formula for the pressure in a flow with constant vorticity. The model equation was previously found by Benjamin (1962), [3], and is given in terms of the vorticity ω0, and three parameters Q , R and S representing the volume flux, total head and momentum flux, respectively. The focus of this work is on the reconstruction of the pressure from solutions of the model equation and the behavior of the surface wave profiles and the pressure distribution as the strength of the vorticity changes. In particular, it is shown that for strong enough vorticity, the maximum pressure is no longer located under the wave crest, and the fluid pressure near the surface can be below atmospheric pressure. © 2012 Elsevier Masson SAS. Two Dimensional Gravity Water Waves with Constant Vorticity: I. Cubic Lifespan

The motion of water in contact with air is well described by the incompressible Euler equations in the fluid domain, combined with two boundary conditions on the free surface, i.e., the interface with air. In special, but still physically relevant cases, the equations of motion can be viewed as evolution equations for the free surface. These equations are commonly referred to as the water wave ...

Bound on the slope of steady water waves with favorable vorticity

We consider the angle θ of inclination (with respect to the horizontal) of the profile of a steady 2D inviscid symmetric periodic or solitary water wave subject to gravity. Although θ may surpass 30◦ for some irrotational waves close to the extreme wave, Amick [Ami87] proved that for any irrotational wave the angle must be less than 31.15◦. Is the situation similar for periodic or solitary wave...

Modeling and investigating the effect of ultrasound waves pressure on the microbubble oscillation dynamics in microvessels containing an incompressible fluid (Research Article)

Understanding the dynamics of microbubble oscillation in an elastic microvessel is important for the safe and effective applications of ultrasound contrast agents in imaging and therapy. Numerical simulations based on 2D finite element model are performed to investigate the effect of acoustic parameters such as pressure and frequency on the dynamic interaction of the fluid-blood-vessel system. ...
